Chris gets to the heart of dog behaviour with his BARC methodology.
Boundaries. Activity. Reinforcing. Calm.
Clear and consistent boundaries, in and outside the home, are key to achieving your dog training goals. They teach your dog to trust in your loving leadership and follow your instructions.
Rules help give your dog certainty, which reduces anxiety and the unwanted dog behaviour it often creates.
Ensuring your dog gets the right physical and mental exercise is critical to achieving your dog training goals.
A tired dog is a calmer dog, less likely to display unwanted behaviour out of boredom or excess energy.
Reinforcing rules with a balance of rewards and calm corrections teaches your dog what you want from them.
It takes time. Dog training is an exercise in patience, repetition and consistency.
Your dog is highly attuned to your emotions and will see distraction, anxiety or frustration as a lack of control. Try to be calm and present during your dog training.
If you stay patient while dog training, your best friend will learn to feel secure in your loving leadership.

Socialising your puppy with other balanced dogs is really important in the first 4 months of their life. Positive exposure during this time is vital for developing a stable, confident adult dog. Balanced dogs will teach puppies social skills, correct their naughty behaviour and show them not to fear other dogs.
Until your puppy is fully vaccinated, it's best to take them to puppy pre-school, home visits from healthy, vaccinated adult dogs, and carrying the puppy around to experience sights and sounds in public without putting them on the ground.
Not all puppy schools are equal, so do your research. In Eurobodalla Shire, Big Head Dog Training recommends the following local puppy schools:
